Dad
Going on ahead
was a trademark of yours.
And,
Whether it was
thinking about something
Or travelling
down some road,
We were all
used to you leading.
So,
The past year
has been about sorting things out,
About taking
on roles you once had.
Frequently,
We’ve stopped
by your grave or,
Spent a quiet
moment to remember you, and,
The things you
gave us.
Sometimes,
These thoughts
have caused us to shed tears,
But more often
to enjoy some memory with pleasure.
That’s
why,
We pause
today, just one year later,
To once again
thank God for you, and for the way
You invested
yourself to make things better for all of us.
Dad,
We have a
sense of anticipation,
About life now
and life to come.
