Laurence had strength of character, spirit and direction.
Tasks that needed to be done were to him a responsibility, in which he
continuously involved himself whether in his family, church, denomination,
business or community. He foresaw possibilities and investigated outcomes
and was not afraid to listen to those who had been there before him.
Last Tuesday morning, I believe the Lord Jesus took
Laurence’s hand and said, “It is time to go. You have done your
work. You have finished your course. There is now a place laid up
for you here with Me.”
Our family has gathered from around the world. Of course
that cannot have been easy for any of them. But I thank God for
their support, their help and the courage they bring to me as we celebrate
Laurence’s life and as we look into the future without him. Each one of
them was special to him and each continues to bless my life.
Along with our family I thank God that Laurence’s disability
was made strength. His weakness was made peace. He is gone from
us. We sorrow because we must now find our way without him. But in
our grief we rejoice in our heritage and our memories.
