Some time in the late 1940's Dad experienced a call into the ministry. Up till this time he had been farming 80acres in Reach Township which became Highview Farm, that Uncle Ross (Dad's brother) and his family farm.
Dad was repairing the well on this farm and heard a voice calling out to him. The voice Dad heard calling him into the ministry was so clear that he got out of the well and looked around to see who was speaking. He was surprised that someone wasn't physically present.
The bible story of the Lord calling Samuel to be a prophet can be read in first Samuel chapter three has many similarities. In this case, Dad immediately made plans to sell his farm and attend bible school in Toronto. It was a significant turning point in his life and prepared him for the ministry he had for the rest of his life.
